One Acre Farm's Donation Policy 

We have been struggling with how to implement our Donation Policy so that it benefits the community as well as being efficient.  The plan that we have come up with, which we believe maximizes the contribution to local food banks, is as follows:  If you know that you will be unable to pick up your share or to send someone to pick up, please let me know (in advance, if possible).  I will keep a running monthly tab of the number of shares that were not picked up.  At the end of the month, I will match the number of shares that were not picked up and harvest the appropriate number of shares for delivery to a local food bank.  We believe that this approach is better for the food banks, in that more food is being delivered at one time (as opposed to one or two shares at a time) and more of my time is spent working on the farm (where it should be!) rather than running twice a week to the food banks.
